Hello ,

Happy July! We hope the recent sun sightings in Clark County have set off your excitement for the arrival of summer!

As we are gearing up for the holiday weekend we wanted to take a moment to pass along some friendly reminders about safe firework disposal. Improper disposal of fireworks puts waste and recycling workers at increased risk of injury from fires in their trucks and at transfer stations. And fireworks debris, if not properly cleaned up, can be washed into storm drains that lead to streams, rivers and lakes. Fireworks contain heavy metals and other chemicals that can harm fish and wildlife. Learn more about safe firework disposal.

Plastic Free July is a global movement calling for a big change - an international reduction to the use of disposable plastics. Plastic Free July has challenged the notion that we are reliant on plastics and has encouraged residents and businesses to adopt practices that decrease (or even eliminate!) the use of plastics in the month of July. Join us this month in saying no to disposable plastic materials, and help develop a new environmentally friendly habit this month like using a reusable bag, bottle or to-go container!

Columbia Springs has been awarded the 2022 Clark County Green Business of the Year award in the Non-Profit/Government category! We are proud to help celebrate their environmental achievements and elevate their environmental education work in the community.
