Green Business Spotlight: Wager Audio

wager-audio

Wager Audio provides audio visual equipment rental, full service event production and everything in between. Whether you need a mic for a backyard gathering or are producing one of Vancouver's largest events, they have the ability to meet your needs. In the last year they supported over 600 events!

Did you attend Recycled Arts Festival at Esther Short Park in downtown Vancouver last weekend? The festival featured over 130 artists and artwork made from at least 75% recycled materials. In addition to admiring the artists' creations, festival-goers enjoyed music and entertainment on the main stage all weekend, and Wager Audio was there too, making sure all the musicians sounded their best in the park.

Wager Audio earned Green Business certification in 2018, but they had been looking for ways to be environmentally friendly long before that. In Wager Audio's building they installed energy efficient LED lighting and occupancy sensors so lights turn off automatically when they're not needed. Rather than use single-use disposable batteries, Wager Audio switched over to rechargeable batteries that can be used over and over again to power wireless microphones. They also have a digital reservation and inventory management system and offer e-contracts, which means they're practically paperless.

Sustainability is also incorporated into the events Wager Audio supports. They helped make the Old Apple Tree Festival more sustainable last year by powering the sound system with 100% solar energy! For even larger events, they have the ability to partially power a sound system with the sun. They're reducing plastic waste at summer festivals and concerts this year by providing their crews with reusable water bottles and coolers of ice water instead of bottled water.

Engaging with the nonprofit community and giving back is a big part of Wager Audio too. Last year for Give More 24 they created a Fort Vancouver replica (Fort Cancouver) made of canned goods as part of the Can Stack Smackdown benefiting Share.
