Meet Mary Hurley, Waste Connections Commercial Recycling Coordinator

Mary Hurley recently joined the Waste Connections team as their new Commercial Recycling Coordinator. Mary comes to Waste Connections after having worked the majority of her career in Public Transportation. She has always had a passion for recycling and waste reduction though, and after spending most of her spare time the last few years learning about how to reduce waste by increasing the reuse of materials, it became more than a passion- it became a personal mission.

She decided to attend the Earthship Academy in Taos, New Mexico, where an architect has been teaching students how to build passive solar homes out of used tires, bottles, and cans. This experience further solidified the importance of waste reduction through innovation, but more importantly, it made her realize that outreach and education is really the key to improving resource management and reducing waste.

She is extremely excited about her new role at Waste Connections and the opportunity it gives her to connect with local businesses and help provide them with the tools and resources they need to make their operations more sustainable.
