Checking vehicles for leaks, and repairing any that are found, is essential to maintaining good water quality in Clark County and protecting all living things in our watersheds. When oil and other toxic fluids leak from vehicles, they enter local bodies of water through storm drains. Vehicle leaks are a significant source of water pollution, so identifying and repairing sources of leaks can make a big difference for our environment. Catching leaks early can also prevent breakdowns, engine damage and other more expensive repairs. To reduce water pollution, Stormwater Partners and the Watershed Alliance have teamed up to help vehicle owners in Clark County identify and fix leaks with the Don't Drip and Drive program. 

​The program is currently looking for local businesses to host events to check vehicles for leaks. At these events, your employees and customers alike can have their vehicles tested for leaks using cardboard placed under the vehicle for fifteen minutes. There's no need for the owner to stay with their vehicle during the test; volunteers don't need to access the interior of the vehicle or under the hood. After the test, volunteers will leave results and information on the vehicle's dashboard. For vehicles where a leak was detected, this will include information about leak repairs, maintenance tips and coupons for discounts on leak repairs.
